In this operation an implant is placed in the region of the missing upper right molar. In order to obtain the bone thickness needed for the implant an orthograde sinus floor elevation is performed using the osteotome technique in connection with a bone substitute.

Augmentation enables an optimized bone and tissue volume for implantation procedures improving clinical long-term prognosis and achieving contemporary patient esthetic expectations. In this horizontal augmentation with Professor Dr. Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, guided bone regeneration (GBR) and guided…

The operator Dr. Markus Schlee, Forchheim/Germany, augments the alveolar ridge in the molar region of the mandibula. For this purpose, a ready-made bone block allograft is tailored and applied. The use of the block allograft spares the patient the harvesting of autogenous bone within the surgery, and…

In this surgical procedure Professor Dr. Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, performs the insertion of two anterior implants as well as simultaneous bone augmentation in the buccal peri-implant region using the GBR technique.

Prof. Dr. Wachtel, Munich/Germany, demonstrates the regenerative periodontal therapy of an extended periodontal defect of a lower front tooth. He shows the necessary steps in this surgery and explains the key factors of success in this cases.

In this surgery Professor Dr. Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, covers a frontal gingival recession around an implant by a subepithelial soft tissue graft placed into a prepared gingival pouch.

In this surgery, in the vestibular and lingual area of tooth 36 and 37 the gingiva is apically repositioned to facilitate the prosthetic procedures planned. While in the buccal area a split thickness flap is needed for the apical positioning, in the lingual area a full thickness flap is appropriate.

The objective of this operation is to remove an aesthetically unpleasant amalgam tattoo in the vestibular region of tooth 12 and 13. The discoloured tissue is removed and a subepithelial graft placed.

Periodontal bone defects are often a localized phenomenon. In this surgical video, Professor Hannes Wachtel treats deep periodontal bone defects in the distal area of tooth 13 and 15 using regenerative methods filling them with Straumann Emdogain and autogenous bone chips.

In the following operation Prof. Wachtel, Munich/Germany, restores a deep three-walled periodontal defect of the lower right lateral incisor. A buccal and lingual full thickness flap is prepared by a sulcular incision.

Due to a lack of attached gingiva around two lower front implants a free gingival graft is placed in order to stabilize the situation.

In this surgery Professor Dr. Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, covers buccal gingival recessions in the right upper jaw with the help of a connective tissue graft placed into a prepared gingival pouch. The connective tissue graft is obtained from the palatal area.

In this operation a deep periodontal defect in the anterior area of the mandible is cleaned and restored using autologous bone in combination with Straumann Emdogain. To gain access to the defect area a full thickness flap is prepared. Additionally, an “internal flap” is prepared and placed directly on top of…

In this surgery, Professor Hannes Wachtel (Munich) demonstrates the gingival thickening in the vestibular area of an existing implant. The procedure involves the harvesting of a connective tissue graft from the palatal mucosa that is transferred into the gingival connective tissue in region 24.

Surgeon Prof. Dr. Hannes Wachtel makes use of the ‘rolled flap technique’ to expose an implant in region 46 three month after the implantation. Because sufficiently attached gingival is existing only a thickening of the buccal tissue via the modified ‘rolled flap technique’ shall be undertaken with this.…

In this surgical procedure, Professor Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, performs a lateral sinus augmentation and an augmentation of the alveolar ridge, demonstrating how specific sinus augmentation instruments can be used to mobilize Schneider's membrane without causing damage.

This surgical video demonstrates the coverage of gingival recession defects using the papilla preserving tunnel technique. In this case, a gingival tunnel is prepared and coronally positioned following the application of an enamel matrix protein gel. This approach is used to treat a patient with multiple…

In the here shown technique for recession coverage in the upper jaw a coronally advanced flap without relief incision is chosen. First the incision in the interdental area is undertaken which leads to the surgical creation of the papilla. After that the marginal areas are prepared and the flap is build up to…

The main goal of this operation is to augment the soft and hard tissue around an existing implant with a connective tissue graft and two layers of resorbable membranes.

As part of the “Munich Concept”, a planned implantation is shown here in region 11. When inserting the drill template, it becomes evident that the bone defect is too extensive to allow an implant to be inserted in the prosthetically correct position. For this reason, a two-stage surgical procedure is…

The objective of this operation was the coronal displacement of the gingival margin in order to cover multiple periodontal recessions in the upper right jaw. Periodontology deals more and more with the problem of gingival recessions. It is a frequently seen diagnosis in the anterior region. Especially high smile lines can cause significant restricted aesthetics for the patient.
