The preparation of prosthetic abutments is a daily challenge for dentists especially if the soft tissue is to be preserved. Dr. Domenico Baldi, Genova/Italy, demonstrates in this lecture with clinical videos how to prepare atraumatically by using piezoelectric inserts. Especially in the esthetic regions like the front of the upper jaw a subgingival preparation edge is very important.
The difficulty is to keep the restoration edges covered by marginal gingiva, to guarantee a long lasting esthetic aspect for the patient. In contrary to conventional methods piezoelectric inserts do not harm the keratinized gingiva und perserve the biological width.
The bleeding is reduced to a minimum, especially if performed while using a retraction cord. The following impression taking can be done faster and under nearly dry and bleeding free conditions.
