In this surgical procedure Professor Dr. Hannes Wachtel, Munich/Germany, performs the insertion of two anterior implants as well as simultaneous bone augmentation in the buccal peri-implant region using the GBR technique. The implants facilitate subsequent reconstruction of the middle upper incisors using implant crowns. Following preparation of a mucoperiosteal flap without vertical incisions to provide relief, a periosteal incision and split flap are established in the lateral sections of the flap.
This is followed by drilling and the slightly palatinal insertion of two root-shaped anterior implants. In order to build up the missing buccal alveolar bone, the bone-lamina technique is chosen. Porcine bone substitute is inserted in the space between the barrier membrane and the bone. Once the membranes have been secured, wound closure is performed without tension and the exposed papilla are positioned and secured in the approximal space.
